We taught the Smart Card to think!

From its first use as a telephone card in 1984 to the highly developed microprocessor card - the smart card’s march to success has been unparalleled. The e-Documents Division of Morpho has had a major influence on the development of this market. Increasingly powerful chips have turned the smart card into a minicomputer in every wallet and in just about all mobile phones.

The collective term "chip card" denotes all plastic cards that have an integrated circuit. A distinction is made between different types of cards, depending on the design of this circuit and the card’s features. The chip module is the heart of the card and gives it its personality. The module defines what and how much the card is to perform. It is created by combining a semiconductor with a ROM mask and an operating system. A general distinction is made between memory cards and microprocessor cards (Smart Cards).

Possible application areas of cards:

Telecommunications: SIM cards, telephone cards, ...

Health: health insurance card, ...
